Summary

A THOUSAND LIVES。 A THOUSAND POSSIBILITIES。 ONE FATE。

Marguerite Caine grew up surrounded by cutting-edge scientific theories, thanks to her brilliant physicist parents。 Yet nothing is more astounding than her mother's latest invention, a device called the Firebird that allows people to leap into alternate dimensions。
When Marguerite's father is murdered, all the evidence points to one person--Paul, her parents' enigmatic star student。 Before the law can touch him, Paul slips into another dimension, having committed what seems like the perfect crime。 But he didn't count on Marguerite。
With the help of another physics student, Theo, Marguerite chases Paul through various dimensions。 In each new world Marguerite leaps into, she meets another version of Paul that has her doubting his guilt and questioning het heart。 Soon, she is swept into an epic love affair as dangerous as it is irresistible。

This was an interesting premise but the execution really didn't cut it - I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, but especially when it's exceedingly obvious who the protagonist (in this case Marguerite) is going to end up with (Paul)。 The whole thing was kind of predictable and her reasons for believing Paul was the killer to begin with were very weak, plus from the get-go you kind of knew that she was never going to kill him。 We were promised a high-stakes chase across dimensions, and that's not This was an interesting premise but the execution really didn't cut it - I'm not a huge fan of love triangles, but especially when it's exceedingly obvious who the protagonist (in this case Marguerite) is going to end up with (Paul)。 The whole thing was kind of predictable and her reasons for believing Paul was the killer to begin with were very weak, plus from the get-go you kind of knew that she was never going to kill him。 We were promised a high-stakes chase across dimensions, and that's not really what we got - everything got a bit too much bogged down with the romance, we didn't really explore the dimensions we did see overmuch, and I didn't really care for the characters。 In short, not for me。 。。。more

A fun multi dimensional story。 Language: 1/5Violence: 1/5Sex: 2/5 one scene of “making love” but not descriptive。

Less disappointed in this than Evernight but still was not great。 I felt i would hate this within the first few chapters as it was hard to grasp the multiverse concept and the murder plot was rather laughable。 I started to enjoy it when we got to the Russian world as this is when the plot got more stable for me。 I liked the two main twists a lot and the setup for the next book was done well。 I didn't like however the main characters rather flippant feelings and stringing 2 men along was rather s Less disappointed in this than Evernight but still was not great。 I felt i would hate this within the first few chapters as it was hard to grasp the multiverse concept and the murder plot was rather laughable。 I started to enjoy it when we got to the Russian world as this is when the plot got more stable for me。 I liked the two main twists a lot and the setup for the next book was done well。 I didn't like however the main characters rather flippant feelings and stringing 2 men along was rather shit of her。 Also she showed how much she cared for one when she basically left him in another dimension。 Also it now appears she's a special snowflake so we have that to look forward to。Will probably continue the series but Defy The Stars trilogy is far superior if you want to read anything by this author。 。。。more

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did。 If you don't read a lot of scifi then this is a great scifi book for you。 The scenery described was also interesting and one of the main things that kept me reading it。 I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did。 If you don't read a lot of scifi then this is a great scifi book for you。 The scenery described was also interesting and one of the main things that kept me reading it。 。。。more

Gave it 3 stars because I fell bad about giving a book 2 stars when it just doesn't click with me。 This book took me a very long time to read through because of some aspects that reminded me of other novels I've read - forcing me to just set it down。 Gave it 3 stars because I fell bad about giving a book 2 stars when it just doesn't click with me。 This book took me a very long time to read through because of some aspects that reminded me of other novels I've read - forcing me to just set it down。 。。。more

Truly my favourite book series of all time。 Cannot recommend enough to anyone looking for a classic sci-fi romance with a million plot twists。 10/10!

Interdimensional travel was a bit hard to get into to start with, but after a few chapters it was beginning to be a very good story。 Enjoyed it very much。

DNF @ 18% Honestly I'm done with love triangles。 None of the love interest is my type and though this might have a nice premise, it's heavier on the shitty hetero romance。 And ain't nobody got time for that。 * No rating on purpose。 It's not a bad book, I'm just not in the mood for this right now。 DNF @ 18% Honestly I'm done with love triangles。 None of the love interest is my type and though this might have a nice premise, it's heavier on the shitty hetero romance。 And ain't nobody got time for that。 * No rating on purpose。 It's not a bad book, I'm just not in the mood for this right now。 。。。more

"I have no need for a world without you in it。" *incoherent noises* Y'all i loved this SO MUCH。 It was an amazingly well done book, with different dimensions and twists that I NEVER saw coming。 Each different dimension, so matter how short of a time was spent there, was described in a way where you could still imagine what it was like。 The mystery and the lies and the twists, oh my! More like a 2。5。 It reads very old school YA, which it’s probably a me problem, of waiting until now to read it。

Not at all what I thought this book was going to be but enjoyed is an understatement。

Pronto traigo la reseña 😍 。。。more

Biraz spoiler var。Meg’in her gördüğü erkeğe bir şeyler hissetmesi, öpmesi sadece beni rahatsız etmiş olmaz。 Kızın sürekli hisleri değişiyor。 Tabi ruhları diğer bendenlerine girerken kendi bedenlerinin yok olması kadar da saçma bir şey yoktu。 E kendi bedenleri nereye gidiyor? Biri bana açıklayabilir mi?

THIS BOOK!!!! This book is what got me obsessed with reading again for the first time in ten years。 Claudia Gray is such an amazing writer and I was hooked literally on the first page。 This fast paced book keeps you guessing, on your toes, and falling in love with the characters with every chapter。 I read the whole series and each book is just as good as the last。 READ THIS SERIES!

I picked up this book intrigued by the idea of parallel universes and the possibility of experiencing them through some sophisticated, yet not entirely impossible, technology。Instead, I got some fantasy romance that was as much about science as Twilight is。 I got reminded why I usually avoid Young Adult like the plague。The writing was bad。 Yes, I know some people say they liked it but it felt way too simplistic - too many filter words, too much repetition。 It seemed written by a 15-year-old, whi I picked up this book intrigued by the idea of parallel universes and the possibility of experiencing them through some sophisticated, yet not entirely impossible, technology。Instead, I got some fantasy romance that was as much about science as Twilight is。 I got reminded why I usually avoid Young Adult like the plague。The writing was bad。 Yes, I know some people say they liked it but it felt way too simplistic - too many filter words, too much repetition。 It seemed written by a 15-year-old, which I know the author isn't。 This isn't her first book, is it? I'm not familiar with her works, so I don't know。The explanations of the "science", if you can even call it that way, were shallow and vague at best。 A certain component of the Firebird is made from "a type of metal that can only be found in a single valley on the planet"。 What metal? Which valley? We never get those questions answered。Every time a scientific explanation is supposed to come up, the protagonist Meg cuts it short for being "too complicated for her", so we never hear it。 Basically, we are forced to accept that the Firebird works because the author was too lazy to do proper research it just does。And yet, in the end, everyone calls Meg smart。 Smart who? Meg? She is one of the dumbest characters I've ever come across。 She can't get her priorities straight even after her father has been murdered。 No, instead, she is too busy swooning over his alleged murderer。 *facepalm*I don't have anything else to say。 Well, I do but I don't think it's worth wasting my time。 。。。more
